Thane is the city in Maharashtra with a great history and its own culture. It was ruled by many regimes and saw many transformations, the evidence of which can be seen in findings of the architectural excavations. The cities name was changed several times. The present name is derived from Sthan or Sthanaka. Many travelers described it as a great place which had a port with continuous ship traffic. Thane is located at 30 Km North East of Mumbai on the western coast of India.

The buses ply inside the city and some of the busses are covering the surrounding areas of Navi Mumbai as well as the western suburbs. You can take a bus from Thane railway station to reach the various destinations in the city. Apart from public transport auto rickshaws are the best means of travelling in and around the city.

The park consists of many types of water slides, entertainment and recreational facilities along with rain dance facility. The resorts near Thane provide best venue for one day picnickers.
